 | 1st Event, Steirisches Vulkanland, May 7th - 9th 2010 Possibilities for the Valorisation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Tourism On the start-up event, 120 participants from four countries met in Steirisches Vulkanland. In common workshops a common approach to the issue of "intangible cultural heritage" as well as key factors for strategies for the valorisation of intangible cultural heritage in tourism were defined. Furthermore, in a common local excursion, examples for the valorisation were demonstrated and discussed. Finally, on Europe day - which was the last day of the event - all partners agreed on the high value of this exchange & the whole project as well as the importance of a long-term establishment of a network for the valorisation of the intangible cultural heritage. All participants are looking forward to a fruitful transnational cooperation!
| | 2nd Event, Starostwo Zywiec, July 30th - August 1st 2010
The relevance of traditions
The second event was again
well attended with 90 participants from four countries. In several
workshops and excursions the participants got to know a huge variety
of regional cultural expressions in the field of crafts and even had
a practical workshop on paper flower making. The programme was
rounded up with a visit of the week of the Beskids' culture with
impressing performances of different folklore groups. The central question of
this event was, how to keep traditional crafts alive or - in other
words – how to motivate young people to appreciate and learn
“old-fashioned” traditional skills. On the basis of the
outstanding regional examples of the district of Zywiec, strategic
ideas were discussed and key factors identified.

3rd Event, Tinjan, 22nd - 24th October 2010
Valorisation of culinary culture The third event, taking place in the frame of the International Fair of Ham in Tinjan, dealt with the relationship between natural circumstances and the resulting culinary culture. It included traditional, nutritional and touristy aspects as well as examples for the valorisation of regionally specific culinary resources. The last day then was dedicated to the valorisation of myths and legends, on the example of the vampire Jure Grando.
| | 4th Event, Steirisches Vulkanland, 3rd - 5th December 2010
Traditional crafts / silent customs This meeting was dedicated to silent customs, such as the "silent advent" in Vulkanland, valorising the regional intangible cultural heritage with rather silent, non-spectacular events. The more than 100 participants exchanged their knowledge on such customs and their valorisation in a workshop and saw several examples in a regional excursion to Kapfenstein and Straden. Furthermore, this topic was directly related with crafts as well, when the participants could learn how to make their own hand-lantern (a symbol of the silent advent) and how to felt a personal christmas-decoration. In a final workshop the experience made on this event was summed up and some conclusions could be made, contributing to the strategy on the valorisation of traditions and especially crafts.
